The fifth graders at Hope school were part of a special Student Jewelry Design Art Showcase from Famulare Jewelers in Carlsbad, who came up with the idea as a way to showcase the arts in a creative way.
During art class, the students designed a piece of jewelry they would want made for their mom. Six finalists were selected and their designs were rendered by the jeweler. All participating students also received a gift certificate to the store to purchase a gift for mom.
The winning design by Jolie Day was produced as a surprise for her mom and presented today in a special assembly to celebrate mothers donated by the local jeweler.
Famulare Jewelers will sell this winning design – named “The Jolie” necklace – in their store with some of the proceeds from each purchase donated to Hope’s art program.
Jolie’s design features the phrase “I love you to the moon and back” with a precious stone wrapped by a crescent moon.”
According to a posting on the Famulare Jewelers Facebook page, “These kids have incredible talent, creativity and vision, they are truly inspirational! Jolie’s creation can be purchased through Famulare Jewelers and 10% of the purchase will be donated to Hope Elementary’s Art Program! We look forward to next year when we can do this again!”
