Del Mar-Solana Beach Rotary’s Oct. 9 bocce tournament to benefit aged-out foster youth

Del Mar-Solana Beach Rotary has chosen Just In Time for Foster Youth (JIT) as one of the two major beneficiaries for its 2016 Turf Bocce Tournament on Oct. 9th, according to the rotary.

When they turn 18, youth in San Diego County’s foster care program age-out from the support system that often does not prepare them for independent adulthood, according to a rotary press release. JIT provides a supportive community for transitioning foster youth through consistent relationships and emergency resources.

The family-oriented bocce tournament will be held on the grass of Del Mar Horsepark’s Grand Prix field. All ages and abilities can participate, enjoy breakfast and lunch, and bid for silent auction opportunities, while also helping others not so fortunate, the rotary announced. Younger family members also can bounce around in the jump house and have their faces painted.

Tournament proceeds will support many educational and humanitarian programs in addition to JIT, according to the rotary. To help sponsor the tournament at any level and, thereby, enable teams to play in the tournament, contact Jan Parsons at or visit
